Maxtrax Recovery boards

Features

Looking around the Maxtrax Design & Use, then breaking down each individual design key and engineering aspect. It can be seen that each plays an important function in the overall use of these Recovery tracks.

Starting on the underneath of the boards there are 20 lugs that protrude 10mm to assist with the Maxtrax maintaining its position on the ground during a recovery.

There are 2 longitudinal beams on the underside joined together with ribs running perpendicular to these beams for strength. Sand, mud and earth would protrude into this area also increasing the friction to keep the boards in place.

When turning the Maxtrax over and handling them you can’t go past the six handles that offer the user the ability to almost position the Maxtrax at any angle, great when shoveling, placing or moving the Maxtrax. The 3 longitudinal beams on top of the Maxtrax contain 68 teeth between them (23 rows – the middle is where they blow the nylon into the mould.) On each of the two ramps (one at either end) there are 2 rows of 5 teeth making a total of 88 teeth on the Maxtrax.

The Maxtrax have also been designed to be used as a shovel in sand. When flipped over sand is easily dug out from around the wheels when stuck. In mud the shovel feature is not as effective. But still offers the ability to move mud if you aren’t carrying a separate shovel.

TREAD LUGGS

The teeth on the outside beams and the ramps are multi directional. With the center teeth all facing one way.

The ramps have been designed to be easily pushed under a tyre in sand or mud. As they ramp down to 20mm in height at the first row of teeth.

This is important, as the tyre has to grab the teeth to gain traction in a recovery. If you can’t get the Maxtrax under and in contact with the tyre. Then your wheels will just spin.

KEY HOLES

Lastly the included keyholes that have a multi function design. They not only allow the mounting of the Maxtrax to the mounting pins. But can also allow the tracks to be pegged to the ground and joining using straps. The supplied leashes can also be attached to the handles or the keyholes. To assist in retrieving them from mud or sand.
